Roots Bongo Band

Roots Bongo Band, a multi-national band made up of Gambian artists is a fast growing band making a name in the Europe.
The band, which specializes in afro-beats, roots reggae and other traditional music, is currently in the country to promote their music. The UK-based music group which comprises of some Gambian artists and Europeans are currently in the country to release debut album entitled 'Leaders of Tomorrow" comprising of ten track sound and two remixes. The album is a combination of afro-reggae and pop music combining two cultures together.
Speaking at a press conference, Joe Hero, a member of the band said: "There is need for the people to listen to us.
In the future we want to record a very good album that will also showcase Gambian stuffs like Mandinka and other languages. We love what we are doing we really put lot of energy to make it a good one."
Joe Hero, a former member of House of Sermon, a music charity organization explained that the band started as a five-man band.
Joe Hero, who started music just after completing his secondary school posited that to be versatile in instruments also adds to one's career as a musician.
He challenged his Gambian counterparts to try to know their field saying music is not just about getting up and singing, but it is important for one to master the instruments. He urged his fellow artists to be steadfast and determined for them to make headway in their career.
Nina, a member of the band also expressed similar sentiments .
